Welcome, New Friend!
This page is designed to answer all of your questions!
You don’t need dance experience
If you’ve ever thought, “That looks fun, but I’d probably be terrible at it,” you’re exactly the kind of person we want to meet.
Our group is built for adults who want to get out, try something new, meet people, and have a good time. Most nights focus on West Coast Swing, a fun, social partner dance that works with all kinds of music. From time to time, we also mix in other social dances like Hustle and Country Two-Step.
You do not need to know the steps.
You do not need to bring a partner.
You do not need special experience, special shoes, or a certain level of coordination.
You just need to show up.
What a typical night looks like
Most events follow a simple format:
-
Beginner-friendly lesson first
-
Social dancing afterward
-
A couple hours of deejay music and open dancing
The lesson gives you enough to get started, and the social dance gives you the chance to relax, practice, and have fun. You can dance a lot, take breaks, watch, chat, and ease into it at your own pace.
Why people love it
Social dance is more than just learning steps.
It’s a great way to:
-
meet new people
-
get out of the house
-
build confidence
-
enjoy music in a new way
-
do something active without it feeling like a workout
-
have fun without needing to be “good” at it first
West Coast Swing is especially beginner-friendly because it is versatile, social, and danced to a wide range of music. It can be smooth, playful, relaxed, and creative. It’s a dance you can keep enjoying as you grow.
“But I’ve never danced before…”
That’s okay. Really.
Everyone starts somewhere, and plenty of our dancers walked in for the first time feeling nervous. The good news is that social dance communities are built on learning. You are not expected to know what you’re doing on day one.
We’ll help you get moving.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that lets you move easily. You don’t need formal dancewear. For most classes, casual clothes are perfectly fine. Shoes that stay on securely and let you move comfortably are best.
Do I need a partner?
No. Many people come on their own. Partner rotation may be offered during class so everyone has a chance to learn, but you can always participate at your own comfort level.
What if I’m nervous?
That’s normal. Almost everyone is a little nervous the first time.
The hardest part is walking through the door. After that, the music starts, the lesson begins, and you realize this is supposed to be fun—not intimidating.
Come try it.
If you’ve been looking for something social, welcoming, and a little different, this is a great place to start.
Join us for a lesson, stay for the dancing, and see why so many people fall in love with social dance.
No partner. No experience. No pressure.
Just music, movement, and a community that’s glad you came.
