Our Common Dance Styles

West Coast Swing

A smooth, versatile partner dance. West Coast Swing is danced in a slot and emphasizes elasticity, connection, and musical interpretation. It works with many music styles—from blues and jazz to pop and R&B—making it popular in modern social dance scenes.

Country Two-Step

A traveling partner dance rooted in American country-western dance culture. Country Two-Step moves smoothly around the floor with a quick-quick-slow-slow rhythm, combining walking steps with turns and spins. It’s commonly danced to country music in honky-tonks and dance halls.

Hustle

A fast, flashy partner dance that rose to fame during the disco era of the 1970s. Hustle features spins, turns, and dramatic arm styling, usually danced to upbeat disco or dance music. Its energetic feel and relatively simple timing make it a favorite for social dance floors.

Line Dancing

A choreographed group dance where participants stand in rows and perform the same steps in unison. Line Dancing doesn’t require a partner and is often done to country music, though modern routines use pop, rock, and other genres. It’s easy to learn, social, and popular at parties, weddings, and community events.
