If you\u2019ve ever thought, <\/span>\u201cThat looks fun, but I\u2019d probably be terrible at it,\u201d<\/span><\/em> you\u2019re exactly the kind of person we want to meet.<\/span><\/p>\n Our group is built for adults who want to get out, try something new, meet people, and have a good time. Most nights focus on <\/span>West Coast Swing<\/span><\/strong>, a fun, social partner dance that works with all kinds of music. From time to time, we also mix in other social dances like <\/span>Hustle<\/span><\/strong> and <\/span>Country Two-Step<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n You do not need to know the steps.<\/span> You just need to show up.<\/span><\/p>\n Most events follow a simple format:<\/span><\/p>\n Beginner-friendly lesson first<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n Social dancing afterward<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n A couple hours of deejay music and open dancing<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n The lesson gives you enough to get started, and the social dance gives you the chance to relax, practice, and have fun. You can dance a lot, take breaks, watch, chat, and ease into it at your own pace.<\/span><\/p>\n Social dance is more than just learning steps.<\/span><\/p>\n It\u2019s a great way to:<\/span><\/p>\n meet new people<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n get out of the house<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n build confidence<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n enjoy music in a new way<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n do something active without it feeling like a workout<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n have fun without needing to be \u201cgood\u201d at it first<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n West Coast Swing is especially beginner-friendly because it is versatile, social, and danced to a wide range of music. It can be smooth, playful, relaxed, and creative. It\u2019s a dance you can keep enjoying as you grow.<\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s okay. Really.<\/span><\/p>\n Everyone starts somewhere, and plenty of our dancers walked in for the first time feeling nervous. The good news is that social dance communities are built on learning. You are not expected to know what you\u2019re doing on day one.<\/span><\/p>\n We\u2019ll help you get moving.<\/span><\/p>\n Wear something comfortable that lets you move easily. You don\u2019t need formal dancewear. For most classes, casual clothes are perfectly fine. Shoes that stay on securely and let you move comfortably are best.<\/span><\/p>\n No. Many people come on their own. Partner rotation may be offered during class so everyone has a chance to learn, but you can always participate at your own comfort level.<\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s normal. Almost everyone is a little nervous the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n The hardest part is walking through the door.
